In this month’s edition of Adorn Admires, we’re highlighting the work of renowned writer, civil rights activist, and co-founder of the Grassroots Law Project: @shaunking ⠀
⠀
Following the footsteps of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Shaun attended Morehouse College where he became the youngest Student Government President ever elected. After graduating, Shaun began his professional journey in Atlanta as a high school history and civics teacher and travelling counsellor at multiple jails, prisons, and youth detention centres in Georgia. During this time, Shaun launched numerous internet activism campaigns such as aHomeinHaiti.org, TwitChange.com, and HopeMob.org. ⠀
⠀
Being acutely aware of injustices in the criminal justice system of the United States, Shaun most recently founded the Grassroots Law Project (GLP) alongside Lee Merritt. The GLP is a project committed to bridging the gap between grassroots organizing and legal expertise to radically transform policing and justice in America. The GLP has a primary focus to reimagine the current justice system to improve upon the devastation of police brutality and mass incarceration. Their first initiatives and plans can be read in full at grassrootslaw.org/plan.⠀
⠀
Shaun has an extensive library of work done for BIPOC communities, and is an inspiration to many worldwide. ⠀
⠀
Taylor Adorn will always rally behind individuals and organizations that are rallying for a more equitable world. We will be donating proceeds from our websites sales to @grassrootslaw to do our part in driving meaningful systemic change
